Physical Packaging Falls Short
First things first: the content itself is great, as usual. I do wish most of it were part of GMH or the Core book, but I understand the possible constraints. My frustration is with how it is packaged. For 40 bucks, we get a… pseudo dust jacket? How are we supposed to store it? The Starter Set, for instance, understands that the survival of ephemera is directly tied to how it is stored, hence a sturdy cardboard box. Then there is the Gazetteer: it is softcover and glue-bound, which is possibly the worst possible combination. You cannot lay it flat on the table without breaking the spine. I’d rather have it stapled like the second booklet or the brochures in the Starter Set. Again, these are fantastic materials; the gorgeous map by Francesca Baerald alone makes this pack worth buying. However, storage and at-the-table use-wise, the Gamemaster Screen Pack is less than ideal.
