Journey to Jonstown #78: Explore Distant Lands

Posted by Michael O'Brien on 12th Oct 2025

By Nick Brooke

Although RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha focuses on homelands in Dragon Pass and Prax, Greg Stafford’s world of Glorantha includes two whole continents containing many exotic, far-flung cultures. These are detailed in the Guide to Glorantha. Many Jonstown Compendium contributors devote their efforts to fleshing out these distant corners of the lozenge. Here are some of their most recent creations:

The character pack also includes a section of everyday items that can be purchased in the East Isles, as well as a listing of East Isles weapons with images and damage amounts.

Kralorela

Players’ Guide to Kralorela
By Paul Baker, with art by Paul Baker
300 pages: $32.00 PDF; a discount bundle is available for previous customers

Paul Baker is an explorer of the mysterious eastern realms of Glorantha whose earlier works include the Kralori Primer and Houses of Teshnos. This guide is largely a collection of short-form writeups for the Cults of Kralorela which updates and expands on material previewed in the Kralori Primer. Adventurer creation adds a focus on the adventurers’ ancestors and their deeds. The writeups of Kralori cults have been expanded, and some have been rewritten to tie them more closely to the setting. Many imperial sub-pantheons are described, each with a presiding Exarch who provides a sampling of his sub-pantheon’s Rune magic and channels worship through himself to the other gods. Additional material allows creation of Kralori, Babadi, Keet, Yeeran, and Ogre characters, and cultivation of Aldryami characters from the east. (Parts of the book require The Way to be used effectively: this is available in a discount bundle.)
