Posted by Michael O'Brien on 16th Oct 2016

20161013_104817.jpgAt Internationale Spieltage '15 last year, the iconic American game company Chaosium announced a partnership with world renowned game designer Reiner Knizia to produce two board games in the coming year.

This year at Essen, the first of these games has been officially revealed.

KHAN OF KHANS is a family board game, set in Greg Stafford's mythic universe Glorantha, the fantasy setting for the well-known Chaosium RPGs RuneQuest,HeroQuest and 13th Age Glorantha, and the critically acclaimed computer game King of Dragon Pass.

"I am happy to be working with the team from Chaosium", said Reiner Knizia. "The production design and artwork for Khan of Khans is simply delightful, and together we have produced an entertaining and engaging game the whole family will enjoy playing again and again".

In this fast-paced game, the players are khans of different fantastical tribes on the Plains of Prax, each riding a unique animal that confers special abilities. Everyone attempts to amass the biggest herd, meanwhile fighting off enemy magic, stampedes and attempts by other players to steal their cows.

"With Reiner Knizia basing his new game in Greg Stafford's Glorantha, it's exciting to be able to bring two of the most accomplished and legendary figures in games together to produce such an attractive release", said Rick Meints, President of Chaosium.

The game will be Kickstarted at the end of November. International editions are also planned.
