Out of the Suitcase #32: A quirky game company, indeed; plus Rick talks to the God Learners

Posted by Michael O'Brien on 3rd Apr 2022

Chaosium President Rick Meints shares stories from a life-time as a collector of all things Chaosium.

I was trying to clean up and file away a bunch of papers on my desk last recently when I came upon an Avalon Hill catalog from September of 1983. I wondered if it would mention anything about RuneQuest, and I was not disappointed.

As I read the short advert for the then new edition of RuneQuest I immediately thought "what were they thinking?" Here's a small example of how Chaosium earned its "quirky game company" reputation back in the 1980s.

Suffice it to say we at Chaosium are no longer frustrated by the time-consuming bothers of running our business...

PS

Plus, Rick was special guest of this month's instalment of the God Learners podcast. He talks about his lifelong passion of collecting Gloranthan books, his work on the Meints Index to Glorantha, ChaosiumCon 2022, and much more!
