It is the age of Pendragon! What kind of Knight will you become?
This is a game of Arthurian legends.
Do you believe in chivalry, or do you think might always makes right? Are you willing to die for your Honor? Will you fight to rid the world of injustice, or use clout and power to take advantage of those beneath you?
Pendragon is a world of brutal medieval realism, that focuses on the emotional impact of play, and strives to make the players feel as invested, loving, and frightened about their characters as their characters themselves would feel. Pendragon is a game that walks a fine line between lethal reality, and the idealism of a visionary life dedicated to the highest values.
Chaosium Unveiled: Inside the Pendragon Starter Set
What’s Inside?
The Pendragon Starter Set contains everything a fledgling Gamemaster requires to run a band of freshly-knighted characters through several adventures in the historic fantasy of King Arthur’s Britain.
World, Rules, & Adventure!
The Pendragon Starter Set contains three soft-cover books. The Adventure of the Sword in the Stone is a solo scenario that teaches you the basic rules as you play.
The World of Pendragon outlines everything you need to know about the setting and core mechanics of the game.
The Sword Campaign is a series of linked, beginner-friendly adventures that take the Player-knights through five in-game years of King Arthur’s reign!
Lastly, the appendix sheets additional rules and setting details you’ll discover as you play through The Sword Campaign.
Accessories, Dice, & Knights!
The Pendragon Starter Set box is bursting with content to help you transport your tabletop to the time of the Round Table. The set comes with 18 perforated cards allowing you to generate combat encounters, and quickly reference enemy combat mechanics. The box also contains 8 pre-generated Player-knights, ready for adventure with full-color character art and backstory.
And, of course, no Starter Set would be complete without a set of dice! The box includes 7 dice: 6D6, and 1D20.

What The Critics Say
-
“A lovely thing to have and I’m excited to see all that 6th Edition has to offer… if this as accurate a taste of the writing and production values of 6th Edition as the Cthulhu and RuneQuest sets are of their respective games, the new edition is going to be an absolute treat when it emerges.”

A brilliant new edition!
I have loved the Arthurian legends all of my life; I have loved Pendragon since it came out. This starter set lives up to the high standards set by those for RuneQuest and CoC. If you want a taste of Pendragon, with amazing extras, this is a great way to go!

A fast review
This is just a superficial review, and mainly on the typography, graphical and general look of the material as I haven't had the time to completely read it through and play it yet. First of all: I am as Swede, so sorry for any typos or other grammatical or language error in this text. Thank you Chaosium that you continue to develop this wonderful game! Pros: I greatly appreciate the fact that you have again decided to use the three paragraf pages from Greg Stafford's and Pendragon's old first edition look, which was the first edition I bought back in the day! It is a fantastic and very pedagogic quality that I have missed, and it's good of you to continue with that kind of layout. The overall look of the material is beautiful and smacks of a folkloristic and early medieval style. The text and presentation of the game looks good and inviting. Love it! Cons: I have a hard time liking the almost juvenile front drawing of "Book 1: The adventure in the Sword in the Stone". I understand it shows young pages or squires doing their things, but you could have chosen a better, more inviting pic. I also do not salute the new politically correct message of the game that *everyone* can be a knight. I still think Stafford's view was the right, that only men should (normally) be knights and train for battle. Otherwise a lovingly made game. Thanks for making it and I will play it in a near future, I hope! Kindest regards, Erik Brickman, Sweden.

A superb product!
This is how all Starter Sets should be done! Layout and graphics are wonderful, giving the feel of a "real" medieval manuscript. Materials are first class, the box is sturdy and the pre-generated character sheets are printed on rough paper that reminds me of parchment. Contents are equally first class. Book I is a solo adventure that lets you learn the rules easily while also letting you attend the very beginning of Arthur's reign. Book II collects in just about 30 pages all the rules you need to start, including those on armor and horses. I didn't believe it was possible to condense so much information in so little space: well done! Book III is a 3-year campaign, which includes most of the important activities of knights at the beginning of King Arthur's rule, giving the players a real feel of how Pendragon is played, while giving them a lot of freedom. All in all, a huge value for you money. I usually only buy games in PDF format these days, but this box is so good, it doesn't even compare with the PDF version, it's much much much better. If you had to choose, I would recommend buying only the real paper-and-cardboard version, but of course if you buy the material version from Chaosium you also receive the electronic one, so this isn't even a real choice... DISCLAIMER: I was involved as a proofreader in this product's development and received a complimentary copy from Chaosium.

Pendragon
Runquest is the best game for me, but Pendagon is number two. That's why I'm giving four stars.

Wow!
An utter and complete triumph! Like the other Starter Sets that they have produced, it is a subset of the upcoming complete rules set. A subset that has been specifically designed to introduce new people to the hobby of tabletop roleplaying in Arthurian England. The teaching, as always, is innovative, and the graphic design is marvelous. An amazing product that comes at a bargain price! Highly recommended!

An absolutely delightful starter set.
This will surprise no one, but once again Chaosium have treated us with a gorgeous, affordable and utterly satisfying starter set. The SoloQuest is beautifully written. The layout of the books and pregens is a feast for the eyes without losing readability even for those of us with dimming eyesight. Truly the layout, graphic design and typography is at least on par with Runequest, which I hold with the highest esteem. Bravo, I say! Thank you for bringing this gem into our paws.
