Capture the Spirit of Arthurian Legend!
Relive the grandeur, romance and adventure of the greatest of all legends — the story of King Arthur. Assume the role of a knight starting his career in the time of Uther Pendragon, undertaking quests and perilous adventures for your lord, for your lady-love, for the Church, or for your own glory. Win great renown with your laudable deeds and feats of arms, perhaps even winning the right to carve your name into the Round Table itself as the story of Arthur and Camelot unfolds around you.
With its innovative rules, including the distinctive traits and passions system designed to help you in determining your character's behavior under any circumstances, King Arthur Pendragon provides a unique roleplaying experience laid out against the richest tapestry in Western literature.
This Edition 5.2 offers hundreds of corrections to Edition 5.1 which itself updated the redesigned and reorganized 5th Edition. This book also contains new material and rules changes for 5th Edition by Greg Stafford, the creator of the original game.
What the Critics Say
" If Call of Cthulhu was Chaosium's greatest commercial success, this game was their greatest artistic one. A winner of Origins awards for Best Roleplaying Game Rules and Adventures, the Diana Jones Award for Gaming Excellence, and an inductee into the GAMA Hall of Fame, Pendragon is ranked 5th in RPG.net's highest rated games, and consistently mentioned by both gamers and game designers as a groundbreaking and seminal work. Stafford himself viewed the game as his "masterpiece."... If you like your games literary, thoughtful, and thrilling, Pendragon needs to be on your shelf." —Andrew Logan Montgomery, Exploring the Otherworlds of Fiction, Magic, and Gaming.
"The mythical roleplaying game from the co-creator of RuneQuest is a legend in its own right, and continues to define epic adventure decades after its release. Pendragon is a fantasy RPG like no other... it represents a master of roleplaying and worldbuilding at the height of his powers."—Tabletop Gaming Magazine (UK), May 2019.
"This classic and beloved RPG is finally back in print. A beautiful new edition of this influential RPG."—Powell’s Bookstore, Portland OR.
"An RPG classic now going back to its original publisher, superbly presented and offering one of the greatest, most tightly focused and fully realized roleplaying experiences of all."—RPGNet, Paul St John Macintosh review.
"One of my top 3 RPGs of all time… with a ton of unique mechanics so perfectly designed for Arthurian roleplaying that I say 'beautiful' approximately 4 billion times during this review."—Dan Wells (YouTube review)
"King Arthur Pendragon is Greg Stafford’s masterpiece and he was right to make such a claim… Not just a masterpiece, but a design classic, a master class in using mechanics to both model its Arthurian genre and to encourage its players to roleplay its knightly character types. Those mechanics are all but peerless, beautifully elegant, but flexible in how they push a Knight to act and his player to roleplay and explore Arthurian Britain not through the player’s eyes, but through those of his Knight. Then there is that setting, brought to life as a labour of love upon the part of the author, ready to be explored and experienced. Put it in your top ten, your top five, or your top three, King Arthur Pendragon is one of the greatest roleplaying games ever published, the perfect combination of mechanics and theme."—Reviews from R’lyeh.
"Pendragon is Greg Stafford’s magnum opus... I struggle to think of a contemporary RPG rulebook that is so straightforward and welcoming (even with stiff competition from the recent revisions of Chaosium’s Call of Cthulhu and RuneQuest rules – Chaosium is killing it right now)."—Vintage RPG.

The only game for Arthurian adventure! It has everything you need to play. Rules and lore are explained wonderfully. This game also has one of the best mass battle systems ever, making something complex into a quick fun experience. If you love king Arthur tales then you owe it to yourself to buy this.
I was very impressed when the book arrived. It was high quality hard cover. Well bound and excellent printing. I knew I was in for a treat when I opened the first page and the heraldry of the Knights of the Round Table were there. The book is excellent, and the game even better! Pendragon 5.2 is a fantastic game. It is an excellent example of the melding of rules and genre to make a more consistent and evocative RPG system. The system with traits and passions encodes into the game benefits to acting in accurate ways to the random knights seen in le Morte de Arthur. 5.2 was a relatively minor update from the earlier releases, but it was great to get this in print and not have to order it from a print on demand service. Thank you!
I'm not going to get into the game mechanics because each edition is a polishing of the amazing original. My review is my impression of the hardback that I just unpacked. As usual, the item was shipped quickly and well packed. The book itself is absolutely beautiful. The art is excellent and evocative. It is printed on high quality semi-gloss heavy stock paper. The binding is ribbon backed and should last s long time. The only touch I would like to have seen is a ribbon bookmark, overall loved this book!
I've been a fan of Pendragon for decades so I'm really pleased to have this wonderful printed copy - truly a beasutiful book. The illustrations are wonderful and bring the whole game to life, the stained glass window theme of the plates for the chapter titles is in particular an apropriate idea. I'm sad to have lost Greg Stafford but this game is a true testament to his imagination.
