Starting with the first issue of Starry Wisdom, Chaosium has
run a three-part Create Your Own Adventure contest, with winners to be
announced throughout 1997. The actual contest is not reprinted here,
because the final deadline for the contest is September 30,
1997. However, we do now present the second winner, as originally
announced in Starry Wisdom #3.Congratulations to Ray Rossi of Hico Texas!
RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER
+7 points, +2 sanity
A Mythos Experience
It is the TERRIBLE OLD MAN
And he stoppeth frightened me
To give ear to his awful tale
of when he TRAVEL'd BY SEA
He quoth, "A STORM sudd'nly arose
To blow my ship far out to sea,
And after clouds and thunder cleared,
Down swooped a horrid
winged BYAKHEE.
The monster slaughtered many mates
Then a DROUGHT killed all but I.
Stranded without men to sail,
I drifted aimless DAY and NIGHT
'Till from my TOME of
spells I learned
The rite of REMORTIFICATION
And with a crew of ZOMBIEs raised
Sailed back to a
KINGSPORT LOCATION."
