Chaosium Inc. 28 Years of Chaos and still going strong!

Words of Wisdom

by Dustin Wright

Do you remember the Freakies? They were a group of little critters that brought us Freakies Cereal. The Freakies lived down near the Freakie Tree, where sugar-coated nuggets ripened to perfection under a cartoon sun. The cereal itself was certainly good enough; But it was the surprises that kept me coming back. Each box held a brightly colored Freakie toy. You never knew just what your box would include but it was sure to be worth the wait. I'd like you to think of Starry Wisdom as a box of Freakies cereal with a surprise or two in each issue.

This Starry Wisdom holds a couple of surprises, big tentacled surprises from Yith, among others. The Yithians mysteriously infiltrated this issue while I was at the GAMA Trade Show in Reno. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with them, the Yithians are perhaps the most technologically advanced alien race H.P. Lovecraft wrote about. Shannon Appel (Steadfast Production Dude) has dared to tackle the Yithian questions you always wanted to ask, but were suddenly compelled not to. You may well wonder how Shannon has come to possess such sudden and intimate knowledge of the Yithian race. The more prudent of us will ignore his disturbing and abrupt changes in behavior lately. Don't ask him what he's building in the back warehouse. Just smile and slowly back away...

Also in this issue, Rob Heinsoo (Steadfast Trollball Fan), reveals a few more Gloranthan secrets, and our Steadfast Artists are back with their Artist Bazaar. We're also providing a sneak peak at Mythos: New Aeon, our new CCG due out this Summer. I've looked into the stars to provide you with a glimpse into Chaosium's future. The next three months are going to be very busy around here! Finally, we wrap things up with an article by our illustrious leader and Steadfast Cultist Greg Stafford.

Those of you in the Cult of Chaos get a few other surprises as well, including a new house! That's right! Each of our cult members will receive their own The Strange High House in the Mist kit. With a little cut and paste you too can have Nodens at your door. For more information about the house, see H. P. Lovecraft's story of the same name. For more about how you can join the Cult of Chaos, see page 15. Cult members are also receiving our new Call of Cthulhu submission guidelines and a few other surprises as well.

What will the Freakie surprises be in our next issue? You'll just have to wait and see. I would kindly ask that our Yithian readers not spoil the surprise for everyone else. If there is something our non-Yithian readers would like to see in future issues of Starry Wisdom drop me a line and let me know! I like surprises too! Read on and enjoy!

Ave Dementia!
