A Silver LiningRunning out of Call of Cthulhu can be quite a challenge.Earlier this month we sold out of the Call of Cthulhu Rulebook. We knew stocks were running low. A sudden spike in distributor orders emptied the warehouse sooner than expected. A reprint is under way and should arrive here in a couple of weeks. Running out of CoC is often a traumatic event here. It's a big book. We sell a lot of them so any reprint run has to be a large one. So the printer bill is always a thing to dread. In past years, we often struggled to bring the book back into distribution. Months could go by while we saved our pennies. Without "The Big C" around our sales would drop. With all our money going to the reprint run our new books would be delayed. Sales would drop further as a result of having no new titles. You can imagine how much trouble all this would lead to. This year things are much better I'm happy to report. Charlie was able to get the print run started before we ran out completely, despite the surge of orders. We have a new book (Cthulhu's Dark Cults) arriving next week. Two others (Yith Cycle & Masks of Nyarlathotep) are now ready for the printer. All in all that's a pretty smooth transition. :) Projects UpdateProjects 1 -3 released in 2009.Project 4: The Chronicles of Future Earth is awaiting cover art, contract, and communication between the UK and California. Project 5 Layout is very nearly finished. The cover artist is sketching away. Two additional interior illustrations were assigned last week to fill in gaps. The book is on track for an August release. I expect to announce the title very soon. Project Six still exists. Project 7 The Cthulhu Invictus Companion is in editorial. Layout should begin in June. A sketch of the cover has been accepted. The book is on track for an August release. Project 8 Is ready for Editorial. Project 9 A PDF support item for The Chronicles of Future Earth (project 4). I'm confident it can be finished quickly once CFE has been sent to the printer. Project 10 has been chosen. I've begun writing up art direction notes and worked up some preliminary budgeting. This project has the potential to move very quickly so I'm taking a leap of faith and starting art direction before the finalized manuscript has been turned in. Project 11 is in editorial. Art direction should begin this month. There are several manuscripts which could become Project 12 one they are turned in.
